Yoga On The Rocks 2021

Celebrating Yoga Rocks The Park

20 Min Yoga with Inversions Intermediate Advanced Level June 21 2021 Yoga Day

As many of you know, Yoga Rocks the Park was yesterday, and wow, was it ever spectacular! The summer sunshine really decided to give its all to us yesterday, creating a wonderfully joyful atmosphere for all of our outstanding yogis to enjoy complimentary yoga practices, delicious snacks, and awesome music. We couldnt have asked for a better day!

Our co-owner, Jason Lu, kicked off the day with a refreshing and revitalizing Yoga Tree Flow to get everybody energized. Once everyone gathered their strength, we went into some Acro Yoga with David Ung. This was quite a challenge, but one that everyone happily stepped up to. Not everyone is a naturally acrobatic person, and we totally understand that. However, the effort that everyone put in was astounding, and a wonderful thing for us to witness.

Last, but certainly not least, we had a little Downward Disco with Michelle Martin. The tunes were infectious, and I think that its safe to say that this was an excellent ending for our event! We even saw a little bit of a dance party break out between poses, a thing that definitely gave a good stream of the giggles to some yogis. Who said that yoga always had to be serious?

See you all in the park next year! Namaste!

Let’s Explore Richmond Hill ~ Richvale Greenway South

Yoga On The Rocks Returns for Another Season

The Richvale Greenway is a trail running along a tributary of the East Don River. It is really a creek.

It is not magnificent but it is a very nice place to go for a walk, particularly if you would like to have a paved pathway.

There is a Richvale North and South. It is easy to enter the Greenway to go south at the entrance on Weldrick. If you are driving, you may wish to park on Walmer Rd.

You would probably want to walk to the end and back – to Carrville Rd.At Weldrick you can enter at the paved entrance or just south of the stop sign at Weldrick and Walmer.

There is a thick woods, mainly of large maple trees and a few basswoods. Of course, the paths in the woods are not paved. In the early spring there are lots of wildflowers blooming before the heavy leaf cover.

There is a playground with swings and sand and benches.

A steep paved path from the playground leads to the main path. The vegetation will hide the view of the creek. Side paths will let you get closer.

There are a few bridges to take you to other places.

The trees are tall and create a full canopy and lots of shade. You are shut off from the outside world. The din of traffic and sounds from the adjacent homes are muffled.

Challenge yourself to identify all the treees – maples, basswoods, willows, honey-locust, oak, spruce, pine, cedar, dogwood, sumac……The flowers vary by season. Here are some early summer photos.

Bring your camera or sketch pad.

Look closely and you can spot creek chub.

Morgan Boyle Park is another gem tucked away in the southwest corner of the city. There has been a $3 million dollar rehabilitation of this park, with funding from the federal government as part of the Canada 150 Celebrations. There is a lot of Canadiana features of the park.

It is more of an active than passive place. There are 2 nicely resurfaced tennis courts.

The baseball diamond is awaiting teams.

The soccer field is huge!

The splash pad is a highlight on a hot day.

Caregivers and other onlookers can enjoy the picnic tables.

The outer edge of the splash pad is a wall that is a perfect height to sit on. The names of the provinces, and when they became part of Canada, are etched in this seating structure.

A shiny, wavy shade structure above the picnic tables is quite attractive.

The playground equipment should keep kids engaged for a while. The black surface is squishy – made from recycled tires.

The features allow for those with physical challeges to participate.

There are facilities, if needed, at the edge of the parking lot.

A long paved walkway, very good for strollers and bikes, lead to the back corner of the park.

There is a stream with naturalized vegetation.

A bridge crosses thes stream to a smaller play area with some unique features. It’s official name is Westview Parkette.

Just over the bridge there is a plaque of the map of Canada, with the provincial flowers.

Engraved rocks depict these flowers are spread out in this wooded area.

Red Rocks Capacity Expanded To 6300 Will Move To Full Capacity On June 21

yoga

DENVER Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre can now allow 6,300 people at concerts up from 2,800 and will expand to full capacity on June 21, with several big names slated for visits later this summer.

Additionally, fitness events like Yoga on the Rocks can now be held at the full capacity of 2,000 people up from 500 said Denver Arts and Venues spokesperson Brian Kitts.

Kitts said that the new capacity announcement for concerts will affect all shows after June 21, including newly announced shows and ones rescheduled from 2020.

The new 6,300-person capacity will be in effect for May 23 and 25, when the Colorado Symphony will perform The Music of John Williams the man behind the scores of Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and more.

While many of this summers concerts were rescheduled from last year, Red Rocks also announced a few new shows on Monday in addition to the Colorado Symphony concert.

A second Alison Wonderland show was added for Sept. 14 Above & Beyond will play Oct. 22. And the Wu-Tang Clan will play the amphitheater on Aug. 13 with the Colorado Symphony and Big Boi, along with Chris Karns. Red Rocks also announced 311 would be back in town on Oct. 2.

The higher capacity numbers come after the state and city both modified their mask and capacity rules following new guidance from the CDC on what vaccinated people are allowed to do.

Tickets For The Popular Series At Red Rocks Amphitheatre Go On Sale April 16

John MeyerThe Denver Post

Yoga on the Rocks will return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in June with significantly larger classes than it was able to accommodate last summer.

In 2020, the iconic yoga series didnt begin until July because of the pandemic, and classes were limited to 175 people per session. For now, the plan is to allow 500 people per class, according to spokesman Brian Kitts.

Thats about a third of the usual capacity, so they should sell quickly, Kitts said. Depending on capacity rules, that number may rise by the time Yoga on the Rocks starts in June.

Last year, three sessions per day were offered on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays because class sizes were so limited. This year, they will be held Saturday and Sunday mornings from June 5 through Aug. 1, with the exception of the Fourth of July weekend. Classes begin at 7 a.m. and cost $17. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. All will be sold online for touchless ticketing, and there will be no drop-in ticket purchases.

Classes will be taught by instructors from The River Yoga.

Also returning to Red Rocks this year will be SnowShape ski and snowboard conditioning classes. They will be held on four consecutive Saturdays beginning Sept. 18.

Yoga On The Rocks Has Concluded For The 2021 Season We Look Forward To Seeing You In 2022

Start your day with an exhilarating workout at the most awe-inspiring venue in the world Red Rocks. If you are under the age of 18, you must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver on your behalf. In order to provide a touchless ticketing experience, tickets are available online only. No drop-in sales at the door.

Due to the ongoing risk of COVID-19 in our state, the continued use of masks in crowded settings is recommended. The City of Denver encourages everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible. Participants should not attend if they arent feeling well or may have been around those who are sick.

If you are a yoga expert, or you are looking to get into it, then Yoga on the Rocks might be ideal for you. Red Rocks Amphitheatre is bringing back yoga for June and July. Classes are every Saturday and Sunday at 7 a.m. and will begin June 5 to August 1. The Yoga River instructors will be leading the classes. Attendees must bring a yoga mat and water bottle.

Tickets are priced at $17 per person and will go on sale on April 16. Tickets can only be bought in advance and will not be sold at the venue. A dollar from every ticket will be donated to the Love Your Brain Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps people who have suffered a traumatic brain injury.

Even though Red Rocks has been authorized to expand its capacity, attendees must wear masks at all times and practice social distancing guidelines. Participants should not attend if they are no feeling well or may have been around someone who was sick.

State officials announced back in March that Red Rocks Amphitheater would reopen in April with a 2,500-person capacity. This is a result of a variance that allows the amphitheater to operate outside the state’s COVID-19 rules. The outdoor venue’s capacity is typically around 9,500 visitors.

Since the announcement, Red Rocks has rescheduled upcoming events while following the current rules to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Its popular Film on the Rocks Summer Series will also return in the following months, combining a drive-in program introduced last summer.
