    Top Yoga Teachers In Charlotte

    Charlotte Yoga Teacher Training

Charlotte is home to a booming yoga scene with studios ranging in size from small 12-person boutique spaces to behemoth 100+ mat capacity in others. Just look around at the hundreds of mats laid out at the free and cheap community classes around town. Were overflowing and we cant seem to hit a saturation point. Every time a new studio opens or an existing studio expands or a non-yoga fitness concept adds yoga to its schedule, more people come forward to soak it up. And that requires more teachers.

Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher trainings are a steady and reliable revenue stream for studios , and here in Charlotte such programs have been cranking out countless bright-eyed new instructors each year. As Charlottes community of yoga teachers and students continues to grow, opportunities abound for those who desire to turn their passion into a profession.

These are 23 yoga teachers in Charlotte who are at the top of their game, representing 19 studios, multiple yoga styles and lineages, and countless interpretations of what yoga really is. The cool thing is, theyre all right.

It was painful for me to narrow this list down to what we have here and impossible to select teachers on uniform criteria because theyre all so different and have contributed to the community in their own ways.

She received her 200 RYT certification in multi-style yoga at Chesapeake Hot Yoga in 2010 and completed Restorative Yoga Teacher Training, with Kimberley Puryear at Asheville Yoga Center in North Carolina in 2017. Cena taught weekly classes in Charlotte, NC and Jacksonville, FL until returning home to Hatteras with her husband and their two young children. Yoga Is The Journey Of The Self Through The Self To The Self

“I discovered the wonders of Thai Yoga Therapy almost a decade ago, after my original guide moved away, it took time to discover the right new one. After my first session with Carrie this summer, I knew I had found the right new one. Carefully guiding my bending and stretching, she worked to relax tight muscles and helped stiff joints flow with new-found energy. After each session I float back to my home, blissfully discombobulated. Thai Yoga Therapy with Carrie is an experience like none other healing, strengthening, and energizing, and is one of the highlights of my week!”– Tom P, Thai Yoga Therapy client

    Madeline Lee: Yoga Instructor

    Teacher Training 2019

Madeline is a North Carolina native who has been practicing yoga for nearly 2 decades detangling and softening an overworked athlete’s body and rigid perfectionist mentality. She cultivated her true love for yoga and rooted it as an integral part of her life while practicing Ashtanga with Eddie Stern during her years living in New York City. She has since integrated expansive methods tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system and the anti-inflammatory, restorative, and regenerative properties that certain flows provide.

Aside from her daily practice of yoga, Madeline owns and runs an anti-inflammatory plant-based subscription food service and consulting business , co-owns a destination wedding photography business based in the Outer Banks, NC , and fills in the gaps as a fashion model.

    What Past Graduates Are Saying

This 200-hr program transformed my perception of what Im capable of, as a practitioner, as a teacher, and simply as a human making her way through life. Katie Toussaint

The Y2 Advanced Yoga Studies program was truly life changing. Many programs teach you a lot about yoga. However, the Y2 program is unparalleled in the knowledge and experience of its instructors in yoga philosophy, anatomy, and what it takes to be an amazing leader. I graduated with the knowledge and ability to lead a class that people will love and return to again and again. And more importantly, I learned so much about myself and how to be happy and follow my bliss. Thank you Tanner, Jen and Johnna! -ML Stewart

I really wanted to do Advanced Yoga Studies but I was scared to sign up because I had not been practicing yoga all that long and was afraid I wasnt good enough. Y2 Advanced Yoga Studies has nothing to do with your skill in yoga, but your willingness to learn, your love for the practice, and a desire to grow. The best part about the program is the knowledge, support, and guidance we received from Johnna, Tanner and Jen I cant imagine doing a 200-hr anywhere other than Y2. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself.-Pippi Gandy

I Always Feel More Stronger Relaxed And Enlightened After Our Sessions

“Im sure you have no idea how youve positively impacted my life. Your guided practice has been the very first space I feel comfortable and free to find the gifts of yoga. Ive never felt anything but at home and welcomed in your class. You have given me license to love my body, cherish my mind, and truly explore and nurture my soul. I appreciate that you see my potential rather than my shortcomings and have the strong belief that I can achieve within my practice.”– S. B., Yoga student
