Match The Practice To The Student

Simply Yoga’s classes teach physical postures, with an emphasis on linking breath and movement. We do so in a supportive, non-competitive environment. We work hard to offer each student what they need. We offer modifications to help students adapt postures to their needs. We believe that there are many ways to grow in a yoga practice not all of them are to learn to twist into the proverbial pretzel!

We believe that yoga offers benefits well beyond the physical to students. Even those who come to yoga to unwind knots in the body should remain open to the possibility of recognizing and changing habits of breathing, thinking, and acting.

Prospective students should be aware that

    • We are not a religious organization.

    • We do not practice “hot” yoga: classes are held in a temperate room.

    • Students do not need to have particular clothing to practice it is useful, however, to be wearing clothing that allows a student to move easily.

    • Students should not feel pain during practice a challenge to the body is different from feeling pain. Poses that cause pain to a student need to be modified or eliminated from the practice .

    • Classes are designed for adults or teens, not young children.

What To Wear To Yoga Class

Goat Yoga Class at Loudoun Goat Yoga18924 Harmony Church ...

Most women prefer to wear tank tops or a sports bra that’s made of a cotton and lycra blend when they do yoga. Loose tee shirts and underwire bras are usually a no-no because they have a tendency to get in the way of movement.

For the bottoms, most women prefer to wear tights. These comfortable and stretchable pants will provide you with a full range of movement and allow your instructor to check your alignment. For slower-paced classes, you may be able to pull off wearing long skirts or stretchable harlem pants.

How To Choose A Yoga Class For Your Child

Here are a few tips you can follow to determine what kind of yoga class to sign your child up for:

    • Do a free online video class: Before paying for an in-person or virtual session with a local studio, consider putting on a free kids yoga lesson from YouTube and going through the class with your child. Afterward, ask what they liked and what they didnt like. Then, try a different video class or take this information to a studio youre interested in to have them help you select a class your child might like.
    • Look for free trial classes: Some studios allow your child to take their first class for free to see if they like it. If they do, you can sign up for more classes.
    • Think about your childs abilities and interests: If your child has a physical or intellectual disability, search for studios or instructors who are trained in yoga that accommodates these conditions and makes yoga accessible and fun for your child. If your child likes high-energy activities, consider signing them up for a class that mixes cardio, games, poses, and mindfulness together. If your kid struggles with stress, anxiety, or other emotional conditions, opt for a class that emphasizes emotion management.

So there you have it, some of the best local yoga studios that offer classes to children of all ages and skill levels. Did we miss any of your favorite studios or gyms with kid-friendly classes? Let Crème de la Crème of Ashburn know, and well be sure to add it to our list!
