No, what youre seeing here is not a design error or some sort of Lululemon-esque factory botch job. These new super-low-rise workout tights from trainer-to-the-stars Tracy Anderson are meant to be that crotch-eclipsingly low, according to New York mag. And unless youre approximately the size and build of a twig, Im pretty sure theyre a disaster waiting to happen.
I have to say, I have one pair of yoga pants that are cut lower than my usual mom-jeans-like running tights. These particular leggings probably land an inch below my belly button. Since Im used to wearing workout pants that hit me an inch above my belly button, I always feel super self-conscious in the low-rise ones and wear them veeeery cautiously with visions of unfortunate mooning episodes playing in the back of my mind.
So the tights here? I cant see them making it in to my gym wardrobe any time soon. How about you?

Real Quick: What’s The Difference Between Yoga Pants And Leggings
The terms “yoga pants” and “leggings” are often used interchangeably and many pants fall under both categories, but they’re not actually the same thing.
- Yoga pants are typically made of soft, matte fabric as opposed to the shiny, smooth materials that are used in running tights. Their purpose is to be comfortable and easy to move around in. There are a variety of fits available in yoga pants, including looser styles like joggers, bootcut or wide leg pants, and tighter fits like yoga leggings, which are the most popular right now.
- Leggings,on the other hand, is a more general term to describe tight-fitting, stretchy pants. They can range from workout leggings to fashion leggings and are made of a variety of materials.
If you’re looking for a fun pair of yoga pants, these will add some sparkle to your look with the speckled metallic print. They come in different colors and metallic finishes so you have plenty of options, and the high waist is incredibly flattering. Just note that users say this brand runs small, so it’s best to size up if you’re in between sizes. Also keep in mind that this pick should be hand washed and laid flat to dry.

What Is Rise
Rise is the distance from the middle of the crotch seam to the top of the waistband. It usually ranges from 7 inches to 12 inches.
Pant rise is important because it determines where your pants sit on your body, which in turn creates your perceived waistline.
Rise can work for you or against you. On one hand, you can use rise to your advantage by changing your perceived dimensions. On the other hand, choosing the wrong type of rise will make you look disproportional.
For example, look at Michael Phelps. Built like a dolphin at 64, he has a surprisingly short 30 inseam. Because of his peculiar torso-to-leg ratio, low rise pants make him look unnaturally top heavy.
On the other hand, he can wear normal rise pants higher up on his waist, near his navel, to visually lengthen his legs for a much more balanced look.
Women use this little trick all the time, and it works like a charm. Look how Zooey Deschanel and Olivia Wilde two women with very short legs visually shorten their torso, creating the waist-to-hip ratio that we men have evolved to love
