If you have your own mat, youre welcome to use the studio cleaning supplies but may want something for home and travel as well. The mat wash we use at the yoga studio is by Black Diamond Stoneworks and can be purchased on Amazon. We also recommend the mat wash spray from Manduka which comes in ginger or lavender scent. I’ll show some steps below on How To Make A Quick And Easy Yoga Mat Cleaning Spray. You need to follow the steps well for the spray. There you will need three Ingradians water, witch hazel, and essential oils with a spray bottle. You may also use Tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint, and citrus oils. I here used lemongrass and lavender oils because theyre my favorite.
Fill almost 75% of the bottle with water. If you run a yoga club you may need a large bottle. But if you do yoga at home, the small size of the bottle will be perfect for you.
Fill the rest of the bottle with witch hazel. It will destroy the bacteria. If you don’t have witch hazel you can use white vinegar. It will work some like witch hazel.
Add essential oils as you like. I used nine to ten drops of each oil. You may use less or more as you want. If you want to make the scent light, add less drops of oil. If you want to make the scent strong add more essential oils. If you think that the scent became strong, but want to make it light, add more water.
Shake the Bottle well to mix the materials. This is a very important step to make the spray.
Spray on the mat to clean it. Then wipe the mat with a dry cloth. Make sure it is dry before you use it.

Looking For A New Yoga Mat You Are In The Right Place Try To Do It On Your Own By Following These Simple Steps
1- Gather your materials. If you’re looking for a homemade alternative to a rubber mat, use cotton fabric to create a soft, durable yoga mat.
- Cotton fabric-4 yards
- Sewing pins
2- Cut Now cut the 4 yards of fabric into 2 pieces. Each piece should be 2 yards by 1 yard. These 2 pieces are going to form the 2 sides of your yoga mat.3- Design Grab the quilt batting between the two pieces of fabric. We recommend you to look for regular batting or iron on the batting that has an adhesive that will stick to your fabric. Attach the batting to the two pieces of fabric using sewing pins, or iron it . Stagger the sewing pins about six inches apart on either side of the fabric so the batting is firmly in the middle of the two fabrics.
4-Sewing. Time to use your sewing machine! Use your sewing machine to attach the two pieces of fabric. You can use the fabric chalk to draw a vertical line in the center of the top piece of fabric. Now start sewing the marked line.5- Edges. Finish the edges with the tape. Use pins to keep the tape in place as you go with the sewing machine.6- Extras. If you are going to use your mat on a surface other than a carpet, you can go a little further by adding the non-slip fabric on the bottom.
And there you go, your yoga mat! Ready to be used anytime. Good luck immersing yourself in the yoga world! Namaste.

Diy Cleaning: Make Your Own Yoga Mat Spray Wash
While practicing yoga this morning, we realized that it had been awhile since wed cleaned or wiped down my mat. For a deep cleaning, warm water and mild soap works, but what we really need is a daily spray we can use to wipe down my mat after every use. We know there are yoga mat washes out there we can purchase, but honestly, $10 seems like a bit of a rip-off. So, we set out to find a DIY recipe for our own all-natural mat cleaner:
Here are two easy and inexpensive recipes:
Recipe #1:
- Three drops of tea tree oil
- Two drops of peppermint oil
- Two drops of lavender oil
- Distilled water
This is for a stronger antibacterial/antifungal spray.
- 1 part warm water with 3 parts white vinegar
- Add 8-12 drops of essential oils like eucalyptus, lemongrass, lavender, mint, or tea tree oil
For both solutions, mix thoroughly and place the solution in a spray bottle.
Spray Cleaning Instructions:
1. Spray your yoga mat cleaner liberally over the surface of your mat. If your mat seems especially dirty, let the cleanser sit and soak in a bit before cleaning it off.
2. Wipe the yoga mat with a wet cloth or sponge. When the cleanser has been thoroughly removed, rub the mat down with a soft dry cloth, like a small towel or washcloth. Now repeat on the other side.
3. Allow your mat to air dry, which should take only about 5 to 10 minutes. If it takes longer than this, try rubbing your mat down more with the towel to remove the excess water and speed up the drying time.
