In 2009, professional snowboarder Kevin Pearce sustained a TBI while training for the Vancouver Olympics. After a long hospital stay and intensive neurorehab, he continued his healing journey with support of his family and friends. LoveYourBrain was co-founded by Kevin and his brother Adam in 2014 to help people affected by brain injury build community and cultivate resilience. They provide free accessible yoga and mindfulness programs for people in the TBI community.

A Growing Science Shows Yoga Has Tremendous Potential To Foster Healing From Brain Injury
Not only does yoga offer a pathway to improved strength, attention control, and stress management, it can also provide people with powerful opportunities to look inward, connect with themselves more deeply, and discover their capacity to move forward. Brain injury rehabilitation is also extremely demanding on clinicians, so learning mindfulness tools that allow you to be compassionately present moment-to-moment with thoughts, feelings, and sensations will increase your resilience, satisfaction, and ultimately the impact on the lives of patients you serve.
Online Livestream LYB Yoga for Health Professionals
A comprehensive, 20-hour training specifically designed for health professionals working in inpatient to post-acute brain injury services for patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke, and other forms of ABI who want to integrate yoga-based tools into their clinical practice. We dive into a wide array of adaptive yoga, meditation, and pranayama techniques to accommodate a broad range of brain injury symptoms and severity levels. We offer CEUs for OTs through AOTA through 2027. We offer PT CEUs for select states – NJ and TX . There is a $25 processing fee to receive CEUs.

How Did I Rehabilitate And Heal
I used the physical and mental practice of Yoga as my primary healing modality. Not only did Yoga help me heal, but the therapeutic effects of regular practice, in addition to meditation, considerably improved the quality of my life to wondrous, unprecedented levels. Isnt it beautiful the plasticity of our brains!
Years later, Ive now been teaching Yoga for 6+ years who have recently completed my LoveYourBrain Yoga teacher training. The program is a FREE, evidence-based and community-driven, 6-week Yoga and meditation series designed to support people who have experienced a TBI and their caregivers.
With this training now complete, Im thrilled for the opportunity to give back, be of service and begin teaching this research-based program sometime soon, which Modo Yoga runs four times a year! Programming Needs To Follow Descriptions
Pattern matching. Seems simple. In programming, though, I expect it’s quite complicated. The definition in game is a bit ambiguous, but the programming does not match the definition. The definition does not specify that ALL attributes must be the same or different, so clearly at least one set of attributes must be different in order to form a set. But what if 3 attributes are different? The programming doesn’t recognize this. I’ll give an example from level 4. Colors are magenta, teal, and green. Patterns are striped, blank, and filled. Shapes are triangle, square, and circle. Only the number is the same for each in the set: two. But the programming doesn’t recognize this set, even though it fits the definition.By the way, the definition implies that it is possible to match cards that are completely identical in every way but clearly the game doesn’t provide such opportunities. So perhaps the definition should be revised to clarify how the programming actually handles sets internally.

New Study Confirms The Many Positive Benefits Of Participation In The Loveyourbrain Yoga Series
Local Rehabilitation Center and Studios Collaborate with LoveYourBrain Yoga to Bring Beneficial Series at No-Cost to Brain Injury Survivors and Caregivers
A recent study conducted on the LoveYourBrain Yoga Series confirms the many positive benefits that traumatic brain injury survivors and caregivers gain through participation in the program.
The recent study included 1,563 participants, including individuals from the Lansing area. Eligible participants included traumatic brain injury survivors and caregivers, ages 15-17, ambulatory, and capable of gentle exercise and group discussion.
The study found significant improvements in resilience, positive affect and well-being, and cognition among the participants. The study concluded that LoveYourBrain is feasible and acceptable and may be an effective mode of community-based rehabilitation for brain injury survivors and caregivers.
Professional snowboarder and Olympian, Kevin Pearce, who suffered a nearly fatal brain injury while training for the 2010 winter Olympics, started LoveYourBrain Yoga. LoveYourBrains mission is to improve the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injury through programs that build community and foster resilience. LoveYourBrain improves lives, creates community, and optimizes the health of everyone they reach through yoga, meditation, and mindfulness programs.

As always, I am excited to attend a teacher training course and workshop. Through teaching and my personal practice, I continue to be amazed by the benefits of both a physical yoga practice and meditation. The greater my experience and learning the more I realize there is much more to learn.
This program is designed to benefit people with brain injury and their carepartners. I look forward to learning from this group of experts and incorporating the new knowledge into all that Poe Wellness Solutions offers. We can all benefit from loving our brains a bit more.

The Story That Created A Movement
Kevin Pearce was a professional snowboarder training for the 2010 Olympics when he suffered a career-ending TBI. He was fortunate to have a close circle of family and friends to support him in his rehabilitation. Each TBI is different but the healing process can include physical therapy or relearning different physical and mental capabilities. Kevins accident and his familys experience was documented in an award-winning HBO film called The Crash Reel, directed by Lucy Walker.
There were all these people coming out of the woodwork saying, I have a TBI. I need help. Or My sister has a TBI and we need support, said Barrett. And so the film in and of itself was a call to action.
Kevin and his family realized that not only is TBI prevalent, but many people were facing their battle with little guidance and support. Kevin and his brother Adam created the LoveYourBrain Foundation to fill this need.
LoveYourBrain organizes events, yoga classes, and retreats to bring this community together. Early on, they also decided that their fundraising strategy would be community-based as well.
Yoga For The Traumatic Brain Injury Community

EACH YEAR, OVER 2.8 MILLION PEOPLE SUSTAIN A TBI FROM CONCUSSIONS TO SEVERE INJURY IN THE UNITED STATES.
We are one of the select yoga studios across the country to offer the LoveYourBrain Yoga program, a free research-backed yoga program for people affected by traumatic brain injury .
This program is free for anyone with a TBI and their family members, friends, or caregiver.
Unlike most injuries, TBI often leads to lifelong physical, behavioral, and emotional challenges that are largely invisible. As a result, many people affected by TBI lack the support and understanding they deserve.
Four times throughout each year, Blue Buddha supports people who have experienced a TBI and their caregivers to participate in a free six-week gentle yoga and meditation series designed based on the science of resilience.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend LoveYourBrains 4-day online Health Professional training. I am excited to share some of what I learned about this wonderful organization, especially its research-backed accessible yoga and meditation program for people affected by brain injury.

One thing that I noticed coming into LoveYourBrain that I really appreciated was that they were thinking outside of the box more than a traditional nonprofit, said Barrett, who has been with the organization for a year.

2. When REGISTRATION for the next 6-week Series opens, LoveYourBrain will send an email to everyone on the waitlist, with an invitation to register + dates/times of the next Series to ensure that you are able to attend all 6 classes + a link to complete the full online Registration Form.
Upon receiving the email, please ensure that you:a) check that the dates/times of the Series works with your schedule and you can attend all 6 classes in their entirety , and
b) you meet the eligibility criteria
Registration is on a first-come, first serve basis.

Love Your Brain Yoga Trainings
The LoveYourBrain Foundation has pioneered a FREE yoga program for people affected by traumatic brain injury designed to build resilience and community. LoveYourBrain was established by brothers, Adam and Kevin Pearce, following Kevins severe traumatic brain injury from a snowboarding accident before the 2010 Olympics. WHY: Kevins TBI gave a glimpse into a new worldone where many people affected by this injury are plagued by intense isolation and disempowerment. This revealed the need for programs to rebuild community and resilience for healing. LoveYourBrain chose yoga because its holistic and dynamic nature can meet the individual needs of each person with traumatic brain injury, from wanting to rebuild strength and balance, to manage stress, and to find comfort in a community of people with shared experiences.
WHAT: The LoveYourBrain research-backed yoga program supports people who have experienced a traumatic brain injury and their caregivers to participate in a free six-week gentle yoga series. This yoga program is available across the US and Canada, and is launching locally at Samadhi Yoga Studio in Manchester, CT this October. .

Love Your Brain: Fostering Resilience Through Community

After a traumatic brain injury , it’s common to feel isolated, misunderstood, and helpless. Survivors often face new physical, mental, and emotional challenges and struggle to find a truly sympathetic and supportive community. Thanks to the Love Your Brain Foundation, people who have experienced a brain injury now have access to a welcoming community with resources to improve well-being.
Love Your Brain was co-founded by Kevin Pearce, a former American professional snowboarder who suffered a TBI while training for the 2010 Winter Olympics. After his injury, Kevin lost his ability to pursue athletics, and with that, his sense of purpose. Feeling that his injury defined him, he founded an organization to support individuals like himself who were looking for a sense of belonging in their post-injury realities. The organization offers a variety of community programs, including a unique yoga program that is expanding nationwide.
As an instructor, Gina strives to ensure that the class environment is accessible to everyone. “We close the curtains, dim the lights, turn off the music, and focus on slow, repetitive motions. There’s an incredible sense of inclusivity in the class, and we keep everyone’s personal limits in mind.”
