Mandukate Pro Yoga Mat
Known as “the” yoga mat, the Manduka PRO is apparently used by many professional yogis and beginner students alike. My yoga studio has a handful of PRO mats for sale at all times, and they are quite luxurious.
They have a different feel than most yoga mats I’d even describe it having a fabric-like feel to it. What makes Manduka stand out from other mats is its cushioning. It feels thick, but it doesn’t have a significant amount of give to it.
Too much give typically makes it difficult to support the joints or get proper alignment in standing poses.
- Manduka mats are extremely heavy the PRO weighs a hefty seven pounds. The Jade Harmony is more svelte at four and a half pounds.
- Manduka mats don’t have the same ridged texture as Jade mats do, so they’re less likely to collect pet hair, lint, and fuzz.

Jade Yoga Harmony Mat
This mat comes in more than ten colors across the rainbow spectrum and is available in two lengths: 68 inches and 74 inches. It is almost a quarter of an inch thick, so yogis with more sensitive knees might find they dont have to fold this over for more cushion. This mat is coated with rubber on both sides and reinforced in the middle, making it easily reversible for use on any side. Because of its careful construction, it doesnt lose pieces or come apart when moisture hits the rubber. Both sides feel exactly the same andif used without preference for one or the other can extend the life of the mat. Jade will be my forever yoga mat brand as long as Im practicing by all signs still true after fifteen years so far.
There is one small and worth-noting downside to the Harmony yoga mat: It weighs 5 pounds to allow for all that support and cushion. So yes, it essentially could be its own hand weight. Its best used for a practice based at home or leaving in a cubby at the studio. It doesnt commute well, which might be more irrelevant these days than before the pandemic but surely significant to some yogis. Also: First-time Jade customers will notice the rubber smell of a new mat. That smell comes from the natural mat materials and it does go away with time.
I like this mat so much that Ive also given it as a gift to my other favorite yogis, most of whom now swear by the brand. And here I can finally admit that I own a total of four Harmony Mats, all in Midnight Blue.
Things To Consider Before Buying A Jade Harmony Mat
Beginner students often buy cheap PVC mats at their local big box store because they’re “good enough”. Were you guilty of this?
If you fell in love with yoga and ended up using your mat regularly, you noticed the effects of a cheap mat in your wrists, knees, and your ability to transition during a quick paced flow.
While I recommend sticking with an affordable option when you’re first starting, a good mat is essential when you start practicing regularly.
Jade yoga mats are known for being made with natural rubber materials, resulting in a stickier mat for plenty of grip in down dog. Traction is incredibly important in my flow classes, so I can’t have a mat that’s slick and smooth.
The extra stickiness makes a huge difference when I’m starting to sweat and jumping to the front of my mat.

You will never feel hassled when you fold the mat over to protect your knees. its really ideal for balance poses.
Harmony Mat works well for Ashtanga yoga or Hot yoga, So If those yogas are on your list, you can definitely try this mat.
If you sweat quite a lot in hot yoga you can use a microfiber towel where you can place your hands and it will give you a little extra grip, but you only need this during a downward dog, every other position is easy peasy.
It truly should not be exposed to the sun for very long because of the natural composition of the mat. You should take this matter seriously. If you dont follow it, the mat will damage and will become very slippery.
