Decide On How You Want To Get Paid As An Online Yoga Teacher
While you may want to put a few free lessons out there to draw newcomers in, you also want to be able to make a living as an online yoga teacher. There are a few approaches you can take when it comes to charging for your expertise.
You can decide on a predetermined amount or you could ask for donations from your students. You can bill per class, per course, or per membership. For this, you could use payment gateways like PayPal and Stripe, or, if you have your own website, you have your pick of eCommerce plugins or apps.
For yoga teachers just getting started with online classes, using a dedicated online studio platform like may be the easiest option. You can easily integrate PayPal or Stripe for seamless payments.
Lastly, when deciding on prices, do your research! See what your competitors charge and adjust your prices accordingly.

Private yoga classes are 1:1, instructor-client sessions, taking place in your studio, their home or even an office space. Flexible options, personal attention and customised sessions are key benefits that motivate individuals to seek out private yoga classes. In return, you will be well paid. Teaching private yoga classes is a profitable way to build a sustainable business and/or supplement your public and/or members only classes. Use terminology that non-yogis will understand, and when you present some new vocab, define it! Same goes for asana names. If you choose to call poses by their Sanskrit names, explain what youre saying

Can I Use My Phone And Computer To Teach On Zoom
Yes! This would be a great way to be able to create a recording of yourself teaching while also being able to closely monitor your students.
I would suggest propping up or using a tripod for your phone to record you teaching and have your computer in a place where you can easily see your students. This would give you the opportunity to offer your students individualized attention, creating a high touch experience, while also recording.
Develop An Action Plan
Once you have set your intention for the course, an action plan is key. An action plan sets out all of the details of the tasks youll need to complete to reach your end goal, a successful online yoga course. Any business, even that of yoga, requires a plan with concrete, easy-to-follow steps with specific deadlines.
In order to create your action plan, use the principles of SMART goal-planning. Set goals that are:
Determine your last deadline first: the date you wish to release your online course. From this deadline, work backward systematically, creating milestones that will help you achieve your final goal. Schedule time within your daily routine or work-week to follow through on your milestone deadlines.

Get Your Classes Online
And, of course, start teaching online! My favorite platform is YouTube because its the worlds favorite platform, so it gives me the largest audience to work with. I also have my own membership where my training courses, yoga and meditation classes, and yoga challenges live.
But these work for me because Ive been building my audience for a few years now . To get started without an audience, though, then you might want to upload your classes to an online yoga studio that basically does all of the marketing for you.
Some of the most reputable online streaming platforms for yoga teachers are:
Its important to note that yoga insurance does not always cover online classes unless they are taught live, so be sure to include a disclaimer in your videos. If you choose to strictly teach live-streaming yoga classes, then invest in yoga studio software to help you with scheduling, booking, and accepting payments.

Figure Out Your Digital Tools
While I definitely love having a professional camera and editing software, thats not at all necessary to make quality yoga videos. In fact, many YouTube channels are made entirely with an iPhone and the iMovie app right on their computers!
What I do recommend, however, is that you find an editing software that is good enough to create something that looks professional and add text when needed. I recommend Filmora for PC users and iMovie for Mac users. I also recommend getting a tripod for whatever camera you decide to use, a studio light, and a microphone. Ive already written about how to create an inviting home studio setup for free, so I definitely encourage you to look into that for more ideas.
If you want to live stream your classes, then I suggest using Zoom to teach online yoga.
Another thing to consider is where you will get your royalty-free yoga music from and how you will use it in your videos or streaming.
While these will certainly have some start-up costs, they will increase the quality of your videos significantly so that your students dont exit your classes out of annoyance because of poor quality.
Identify Your Target Audience
Consider this step as part of your warm-up routine. Skip this step, and you run the risk of injuring your business. To help you create high-quality content and work out an effective , you need to know whom you will be targeting. You can, for example, teach yoga to kids or aim your classes at aspiring yoga instructors like yourself. Then, you also need to consider the level of skill. Will you be teaching only beginner courses? By taking the time to do some market research, you will be able to identify where the real opportunities are that can help you to set yourself apart from other online yoga classes.

How To Be A Good Online Yoga Teacher
Dont try to be some perfect version just because youre recording digitally
Just like yoga in a room with students, people are looking, i believe, to have an authentic connection with an authentic human being. And people will forgive you everything that can and will go wrong technology-wise as long as you are yourself.Lizzie Lasater
Keep the right energy throughout the session
Im used to teaching live classes, where you can tune-in to the people and engage. You know your audience beginner, intermediate, advanced etc. that you can adjust your adjustments and coaching too. With online you dont have that, therefore you need to be more clear, slow, and keep the right energy throughout the session to get across the camera.CInderella De Groot
Plan Your Course And Create Your Content
Your online yoga course should be created around your target audiences abilities. So, identify at which level your students are and what they would like to achieve. This way, you will know which type of content you will need to create to help them realize these goals. Whether you will be using pre-recorded videos or live classes, it is important to keep the right pace. You do not want to bore your students, yet you also do not want to scare them after the first two lessons.
Once you have a good outline of which techniques to teach when, you can start to create your content. One key tip is always to rehearse first. This is even more important if you will be teaching live classes. You want to double-check that the audio quality is good and that your students will be able to see you properly.

What Is The Best Yoga For Beginners
If you are out of shape or extremely inflexible, we recommend you begin with a gentle practice until you have built up the strength and flexibility for more challenging sequences. If you are a relatively fit and flexible person, you should be able to jump right into a regular hatha yoga class. Once you are familiar with the basic postures, you can explore a vinyasa or flow class. We recommend you avoid Ashtanga, Bikram, or hot yoga until you have built up some physical strength and endurance. It is always best to error on the side of caution and safety and approach yoga slowly and carefully. The best way to know if yoga is for you is to give it a try!
Social Media And Other Marketing
Nowadays, social media and other online services make marketing and advertising possible without the help of a professional. Use Facebook and Instagram as a platform for sharing information about your upcoming course. Both platforms have an option to create paid advertisements that can reach a larger audience aside from your existing followers.
