If youre not sure whether you can commit to being fully present for all 200 hours, its better to wait until you can be. Teacher training requires all of you, not just part. If you can show up every time, youll be unstoppable.

How To Find A Job Teaching Corporate Yoga

There are many ways to find corporate yoga jobs, but first, you have to be willing to hold space for a growth mindset. Finding clients may take time, but all your hard work will pay off. Consider these actionable tips.


  • Leverage your personal network. Make a list of friends and family who have extensive networks, or work in a company setting. Ask them if they have a workplace wellness program in place and if they would be willing to put you in touch with the appropriate point person to discuss corporate yoga offerings.
  • Get the word out.Let people know that you are offering yoga sessions to companies on community-based connection sites like Nextdoor or post your offerings on your social media pages. Ask people to connect you to people seeking a corporate yoga program. Provide an easy way for them to contact you.
  • Do some research. Research companies in your area and make a list of organizations within your driving radius. Find the HR or corporate wellness contact and send a short email pitch that outlines your yoga offerings. Ask if they would consider your session as part of their wellness programs. Describe the benefits of yoga for mental health and stress reduction in a way that is relatable. Include a scheduling link for them to have a conversation with you.
  • Search platforms. Yoga teaching jobs can be found on sites like Yoga Trade, Thumbtack, LinkedIn, Craigslist, and social media. Include your yoga resume when you send a response!
  • Keep It Short And Simple

    It is best to Keep your morning yoga practice short. A suitable length is 15-30 minutes. You probably dont want to add too much weight to your day by doing an extended practice before youve even gotten going. Short, quick practices are a great way to prepare your body and mind for a hard days work. On the other hand, if you only do a few rounds of sun salutations, you may find that the effects of an abbreviated practice wears off very quickly. Its a tricky balancing act, so experiment and find what works best for you.

    Make It Part Of Your Routine

    Be sure to think through the logistics. One of the biggest hurdles I faced when doing my own 21-Day Challenge was planning. On some days, work ran long, or a friends birthday party was just too promising to pass up. Things will happen. If you miss a class, remember that you can always make it up the next day .

    Its important to remember that if getting your yoga practice in each day is stressing you out, its doing more harm than good. A few small things did help me overcome some of these more logistical roadblocks. One was aiming to do early morning classes, or get one in right after work, so that I had little interruption or distractions.

    Build a support system. Setting expectations with your friends, family and coworkers will help mitigate these pop-up events that may derail your plans. And hopefully everyone around you will be supportive of your journey as you spend a bit of time away from them and with yourself. Sure, you can leave yourself open to changing your plan, but have a theme, pace, and intention in mind before class begins.

    Even better, make your classes part of a broader syllabus that reflects the body of work that youre trying to teach as an educator. Creating a syllabus takes effort and time. But, it also helps you clarify your teaching objectives and builds confidence. Ultimately, having a plan& emdash even if its just an idea or feeling that you want to communicate to your students& emdash will make the experience of teaching easier and more effective.


    Whens The Last Time You Did All That In Ninety Minutes

    But you may not feel so greatSome beginners feel nauseous, dizzy, light-headed, or extremely exhausted after their first class. This is normal! These sensations are minimized with each class that you attend, so stick to it! The intense work out in the intense heat is very detoxifying and cleansing, and these processes can cause these sensations. Try not to conclude that a hot yoga practice is not for you if you dont feel great after your first class. With regular practice, your body will balance out and you will begin to feel wonderful after class, so come back for you second class ASAP!.

    If you have a weekly or daily practice keep that. If not, it might be good to start bringing yoga into your weekly routines before the retreat to ensure your body is up for daily practices.     Be patient with yourself during preparation. If you cant practice as much as you want to, or find yourself struggling through certain asanas, its okay. Your yoga retreat is meant to challenge you and take you to the next level. We are all at different points along our journey. Embrace the spot youre in now and look forward to the change thats coming your way. The best thing about yoga is that its not a competition. At your retreat, you will see that all yogis are simply individuals at different levels in their practice. Good teachers will adjust each practice to suit everyone, no matter how advanced they are.

    How Hot Is A Hot Yoga Class

    In hot yoga, the room is heated to temperatures that can range from the high 80s to 105 degrees Fahrenheit, the latter being the temperature of a Bikram-style yoga class. Not only can the temperature fluctuate depending on the studio , but the method of heating can be different as well, says Scupp.

    Along with conventional heating, some studios use a humidifier to make the room feel warmer. Some studios, like Heatwise, use infrared heat that comes from electric heat panels that are placed on the ceiling or around the room, which can feel more natural than forced-air heat, she says. The size of the room, the weather outside, and how packed the class is can all be factors in how hot the room gets, Scupp says.

    Form A Support Team Outside Of Yoga Teacher Training

    Though many yoga teacher training graduates rave about the connections and support they gain from within their training, it is important to seek support before the training too.

    Let people know what you are about to do. Ask family, friends and coworkers to hold space for your process. Yoga training involves personal transformation. You might need a lifeline at some point: someone who can remind you of your why, your big vision and encourage you to keep going!

    Many people report feeling calm, centered, and rejuvenated. You have just done something so, so good for you! You have strengthened every muscle, you have released the tension in every muscle, you have massaged your internal organs, and youve created a tourniquet effect around each organ- flooding each organ with freshly oxygenated blood and helping your body to heal each organ. Youve also sweat profusely, which aids your body in detoxification, and youve stretched your muscles, joints, and ligaments. Wow!

    Students Get Ready To Learn With Yoga

    Students at Masera Learning Center arent sitting at desks when 10 a.m. rolls around. Instead, theyre on their backs, doing yoga, to get ready to learn. Masera Learning Center is an Eastern Suffolk BOCES school that provides special education services to elementary and middle school students with special needs.

    MLC is working with a program called Get Ready to Learn to bring yoga to its students. The program helps bring the benefits of yoga and mindfulness to the classroom, enabling students to be more present during their lessons. Yoga is done in the classroom and led by an instructor who accompanies a narrated video. Before the class starts, the desks are moved out of the way, and the students grab their very own yoga mat, which is provided by the school.

    Were finding that all students are benefitting from the yoga practice, even the students who may not be able to do yoga because of a severe disability, said Lisa Newcomb, teacher coordinator at MLC. We dim the lights during class and play soft music, and were seeing they benefit from that. Its helping them be more mindful, retain more information during class, and reduce their anxiety.

    In addition to the mental health benefits, yoga also provides an opportunity for students to develop their gross motor skills and provides an outlet for them to release pent-up energy. MLC is looking to expand yoga across their school so more students are able to benefit from the healing benefits of the practice.

A scattered mind in a difficult pose is practicing like a beginning student, while a still mind in an easy pose is practicing like an advanced student. Practicing with internal, still focus is advanced yoga, regardless of the postures. So move with focused attention and concentrate on your breathing and the internal sensations within your body. And keep in mind that all physical limitations are first created in the mind. If you think youll never be able to do a posture, then youll never be able to. If you commit to learning a posture, then eventually, youll learn it. Whether you tell yourself you can or you cant, the effort is the same.
