Im New To Yoga Should I Become A Teacher
Jen writes,
Ive been taking yoga classes and I just feel so drawn to study it further and to teach it to others. I just love the spiritual aspect of it and it really gives me such a deep sense of calm and balance. I think it is something so many people could benefit from, and I was just so inspired by my own teacher who was fantastic. Anyway, I guess I just wanted to know how difficult the training was.
Ive taken a few months of classes here and there with a few different teachers. I wondered if you thought a certain degree of experience was necessary before entering into it. I really feel so drawn to it, but I just want to make sure Im not biting off more than I can chew, especially since it is a fairly big financial commitment for me too. Id really appreciate your thoughts!
Of course there are no rules about how long you should practice yoga before becoming a yoga teacher. And technically, you will probably learn everything you need to know about yoga from your teacher training program. However, if I were advising a friend who was new to yoga I would tell her to wait at least a year. Have a solid, consistent practice for at least a year before you pursue teacher training. There are things as a new yogi that will completely change during several months of consistent practice. Not just flexibility or focus, but the way you practice, the type of teacher you resonate with, the type of class you enjoy, and more.

It is not compulsory to be registered with yoga alliance though it is instrumental and beneficial. The yoga alliance has set certain standards that maintain the quality of yoga which allows quality yoga programs all around the world.
If you do your training from a yoga school registered with Yoga Alliance, you will naturally have more weight and benefits as a yoga teacher.
If you are doing a teacher training program in India, then doing it from a school recognized by QCI is one of the best things you can do for your yoga teaching life. QCI is similar to the Yoga Alliance and makes sure the quality of yoga is set at its highest.
Again, it is not compulsory to go to a yoga school recognized by QCI, but it is incredibly advantageous and valuable.
What Subjects Are Covered And In What Detail

All the Yoga Alliance Registered Schools must have asana, philosophy, anatomy and physiology, pranayama, and meditation. However, every school covers it differently. Not every human is the same and their body types are different. Universal alignment of asana doesnt work on everyone. The Program must cover all possible alignments of each asana. The Program should be covering 8 Limbs of Yoga, Mudras, Mantras, Different Types of Breathing, Different Types of Yoga, all the major Pranayama, Yoga Nidra, and Chakras. Anatomy and Physiology should be covering Respiratory System, Skeletal System, Muscular System, Digestive System, Cardiovascular System, and Endocrine System. Beyond all of these, there must be enough practice sessions for you to practice.

Is Online Yoga Certification Worth It
Like anything else in life, taking an online yoga teacher training, and integrating yoga instructions online has its pros and cons.
In one aspect, there is the challenge of ones ability to self-motivate and stay on task, apart from the lack of in-person interaction that some people find essential.
On the other hand, you can take online yoga certification at your own pace, in the comfort of your home, and develop new self-discipline and accountability skills. In the end, it all comes down to what you personally prefer.
With the world moving digital, online YTT is a trend very likely to stay. Studios and teachers are investing in doing online training as similar and vibrant as the in-person version, including tests and exams to make sure students graduate effectively and be ready to lead a class on or offline with confidence. In short, to become a yoga instructor online has never been so accessible as today!

Check To See If There Is A Manual
The fourth component Id make sure to understand, whether for an online or in-person training, is the MANUAL. Is there a manual? Not just assigned reading books that you can easily buy off Amazon, but an actual proprietary manual with all the yoga postures and poses, anatomy of the body and how to teach the yoga postures accordingly, common misalignments and contraindications. Once a teacher training program ends, that paper manual becomes your most valuable resource. A yoga teacher training without a proprietary manual is a major red flag.
The manual is something youre going to want to reference as you start teaching yoga and deepening your own practice of yoga. Youll also super appreciate having a yoga instructor manual to look things up for years to come.
Choose A Teacher Training Program
Number three, you definitely wanna do some kind of training.
Yes, you want to do a yoga teacher training, and the most common format is to do whats called a 200-hour teacher training.
So you cover a lot of material in 200 hours, everything from teaching, anatomy, philosophy. You wanna do research on where you do this 200-hour training, because its really gonna teach you everything you need to know about how to be a successful teacher.
While most yoga studios will focus on vinyasa yoga or vinyasa flow in their certification program, you can totally choose a yoga instructor training that focuses on the yoga and meditation style that most interests you. There are many types of yoga, from restorative yoga, prenatal yoga, yoga nidra, Ashtanga yoga, to yin yoga, you definitely have a lot to choose from.
You can do a 200-hour training all at once, in a month-long in-person intensive, over the course of many weekends, or you can even do a 200-hour training online. There are a lot of different types of training depending on the style of yoga, like:
If you do do something online, make sure that its interactive, and youre getting direct feedback and support from a teacher over video conference.
Thats exactly how my online training works, and if youre interested in the online option, Ill also link that up in the cards and description.

Faqs For Teaching Chair Yoga

Chair yoga is an accessible form of yoga that can be done by a diverse population. As a chair yoga teacher, you want to keep your students safe while giving them the energetic, physical and mental boost of any yoga practice. This means you want to sequence and cue efficiently. With answers to these frequently asked questions , youll be on your way boosting your chair yoga clients and helping them improve their quality of life at the same time.
Back in my early twenties, I completed my masters degree in kinesiology, finished my 200-hr yoga teacher training program, and started my yoga business within a three-month time period. I was motivated and ready to share the benefits of yoga with everyone.
At the time, I didnt have an ideal client in mind, so I taught students of all levels. I helped brides-to-be get lean before their wedding day. My schedule also included helping athletes use yoga to increase performance. And, I taught chair yoga the elderly at senior centers around town.
All of these outlets taught me to modify yoga to the individual. Yet chair yoga encouraged me to be the most creative with my class structure and how I modified postures. In this post, I share with you what I have learned along the way .

Why Is It Called Yoga Teacher Training Camp
In 1998, Aura Wellness Center started offering Yoga Teacher Trainings, lead by Dr. Paul Jerard, E-RYT 500, YACEP, called Yoga Teacher Training Camps a full month immersion course.
He made these new courses with the same curriculum, materials, and lessons as an onsite training, so that a graduating teacher would have the same experience. These courses would be later shipped in boxes all over the world with a syllabus, teacher tips, exams, media, and books became known as the Yoga Teacher Training Camp-in-a-Box.
Nowadays, many courses have shifted to online formats, especially due to increased shipping costs and greater convenience of receiving learnings electronically. However, we have kept the name Camp-in-a-Box in our courses, as it is what many people know us by, and it is part of our proud history of offering affordable trainings.
How Does This All Work
When you purchase your course, you will receive a license key that allows you to register on our Student Dashboard at . From there, you will be able to access your syllabus and course curriculum. Your course syllabus provides a breakdown of course objectives and structure as well as information on how to complete assignments which include quizzes, essays related to course topics, final exams, and practical exams.
Your lead instructor throughout the duration of this course will be Dr. Paul Jerard, E-RYT 500. Should you have any questions, there is an experienced Yoga teacher, on staff, who is ready to offer assistance. You are never on your own, if you do not want to be support is a phone call or email away.
Upon completion of the course and exams, please submit them online. Within a few weeks, your exams will be graded, and you will be notified by email.
The average student completes this course in only 4 months or less!
Shortly after that, your Certificate, with the official Aura Wellness Center logo, signed by Dr. Paul Jerard, E-RYT 500, on ivory parchment paper will be mailed to you. You will also receive a letter of recommendation on Aura Wellness Center official letterhead from Dr. Paul Jerard, E-RYT 500. This can be used to present during a job interview or to a present employer.
