How Much Does It Cost To Get Certified In Yoga
This fully depends on what kind of training youre after. There are so many aspects to a training that can affect the price, like which styles of yoga are taught, whether its a 200-hour yoga course or 500-hour course, where the course is located, and what kind of certification you would like.
What Is The Average Income Of A Yoga Instructor
Thats one of the most common questions that most new yoga teacher trainers ask. However, answering this question is quite a challenge. While some publications claim that the medial income for pilates or yoga teachers is a little above $62,000 per year, there is no fixed figure to represent the actual amount a yoga trainer or instructor can make in a year.;
It may come to you as a shock, but most teachers earn less than $35k a year, while others earn more than $200,000 or even more. But if you are wondering how to earn hundreds of thousands of dollars as a yoga trainer, you must know one thing: a large percentage of your earnings come from outside the gym or studio that you work for. To put it simply, you have to earn through a combination of training sessions, workshops, online sponsorships, and more.;
You must benefit from technology and create a website to diversify your income. All you need is a burning desire to build a profitable yoga teacher training career and a 200-hour YTT certification. Having your own website and social media pages let you connect with potential clients and students. Investing in low-risk strategies can get you started right away.

Responsibilities Of Being A Yoga Instructor
The primary responsibility of the yoga teacher is to create a safe, supportive environment so the students can practice without fear or discomfort and remain engaged. The poses, which are called asanas, should be clearly communicated with verbal instruction and physical demonstration where appropriate.
Apart from that, a yoga instructor will have other duties, such as developing and adapting the class content based on the students skill level.
A yoga teacher will also have to possess solid time management, be comfortable taking the lead, and be continuously evolving their own knowledge and understanding.
Additionally, it’s important to remember that you will be one among several passionate yoga instructors. So keep in mind that you’re responsible for advertising yourself, your brand, and your classes.;
A tip would be to ask yourself the following questions: Are you fully committed to your practice? What makes your classes special and sets you apart from the others?
Understand The Yoga Alliance
Number two, certification in the yoga world is something thats very much in flux. Yogas not really regulated by the state or at the national level.
So you can pay Yoga Alliance for permission to use their RYT trademark after your name, but it doesnt actually, really mean anything at the government, state, or national level.
So it may or may not be worth doing, based on your personal goals.
If you wanna deep-dive with me into what certification really means, I absolutely suggest you listen to this podcast, where I go into a lot more detail.
So what is an RYT certification for, then?
Its mostly for yoga and fitness studios in the US to assure that the yoga instructors they hire have completed a minimum level of education as a yoga instructor. It doesnt, however, ensure that you actually practice yoga, that you have any teaching skills, or that your training program was of high quality.
While it is certainly helpful when applying for a teaching job at a yoga studio, its not necessary for other more lucrative teaching gigs .
If youre clear about your goals for your training program, then youll be more clear about whether or not an RYT certification is necessary.

Yoga Is Not Just For The Experts
Number one, being a yoga teacher is not about being able to do all the fancy, complicated poses, like headstand, or forearm stand, or some of the arm balances.
What its actually about is cuing, which means effectively using your voice to tell people what to do with their bodies, and compassion.
So cuing and compassion.
So dont get down on yourself if you cant do all the super fancy things, because really good teachers are about great cuing and being extremely compassionate and loving with their students.
After all, yoga is a form of healing arts.
This doesnt always come naturally to everyone and thats okay. You can develop it with hands-on experience and will likely learn it in your teacher training education.
