I discovered The Shop Yoga Studio during my month-long stay in Park City, Utah and Im so grateful I did. It was my meditation and stretching sanctuary, my home away from home, and the perfect way to rest and recover after a high-elevation hike or day-long bike ride. The Shop definitely has a special energy, you can feel it when you enter, and the decor is funky and full of character, as any good yoga studio should have.
The main thing I loved about this studio was the quality of the instructors. Not only were they especially welcoming to an out-of-towner, but their knowledge and ability to teach the specifics of the poses was a huge plus. I cant tell you how many years Ive been doing downward-facing dog the wrong way! It was the like instructors knew exactly what I needed, despite there being 14 other people in the class. The instruction moved us effortlessly through the hour-long practice and by the time I knew it, I was out the door, refreshed and ready for my next adventure.
The Shop offers three classes a day , all beginner level and mostly flow, with a suggested donation of $10-20/class. Walk-ins are welcome, and dont worry about the classes being too full, the studio is roomy. Be sure to check the website for community outings, special classes and seasonal events.

Not every yoga studio is right for every yogi. So I should really title this article, Park Citys Yoga Studios, Described, but it just didnt have the same ring to it. Ive tried nearly all of the yoga studios in town and I must say they are all unique and special in their own way. Plus, I have found that the yoga instructor is as important, if not more important, than the studio itself. And in Park City, the instructors tend to cross-pollinate between studios.
With my busy schedule, what works for me is to have each studio schedule bookmarked so that I can find the time that works best when I just really need to stretch, breathe and take an hour for myself.
