We are reopening on an adjusted schedule, with a capacity level that reflects the latest social distancing guidelines. KIND AND GENTLE C-OM-MUNITY YOGA MEETUP GROUP is the Karma Yoga Project of kg yoga life practices. The Meetup Group will participate in FREE community morning yoga sessions held in Malcolm X-Meridian Hill Park on the following Sundays:
The group will practice kind and gentle Hatha yoga in front of the reflecting pool and waterfall located near the entrance facing 16th Street and Florida Avenue, NW. The yoga session will last 30 minutes and include an opening meditation, warm-up, kind and gentle poses, and closing meditation. Please bring your own yoga mat and bath towel for seated positions. Dress comfortably in loose clothing. Try not to drink or eat two hours before the yoga session.

Yoga teacher training programs involve 200 + hours of training and can be found by searching for a registered yoga school through Yoga Alliance. Many yoga teacher training programs are eligible for myCAA.
After completing 200 hours of yoga teacher training, training through the Veterans Yoga Project and Warriors at ease can be completed. This training prepares yoga teachers to teach veterans in multiple settings. Scholarships are available for both active duty and veterans for both Veterans Yoga Project and Warriors at East trainings.

Ever been locked out? Wondering if that berry-looking fruit is safe to eat? At Knowledge Commons DC you can find out more about any topic you may have wondered about.
The classes can be very specific , and not all classes are likely to be your cup of tea, but Knowledge Commons DC volunteer organizer April Thompson said, Part of what makes them fun is, theyre often niche things that youve never even thought about learning necessarily, but all you have to lose is a couple of hours of an evening usually.
The organization has about six classes every month, depending on interest on a particular topic. They are taught by volunteers who may be experts, professionals or people who are passionate about a topic and could impart good, basic knowledge.
Classes are held in different locations in the city depending on the nature of the topic. For example, a foraging class could be at a park or wooded area.
Thompson said that the unique, free-roaming school has several benefits, including finding people who have a similar interest in a niche topic, learning something that you cant learn in a traditional classroom and an opportunity to explore new spaces in the city. And often, Its a lot of fun, she said.
Classes are scheduled on a rolling basis, and you can get a heads up on whats in the works by signing up for its newsletter.
And, if youre passionate about a topic or have a cool skill others might want to learn, Knowledge Commons DC is always looking for volunteer teachers.
