Yoga Teacher Certifications From The Yoga Alliance
Yoga Alliance offers yoga teacher certification programs and grants the Registered Yoga Teacher credential to those who completed a series of training with a specific number of hours. There are two types of yoga teacher training credentials awarded by the Yoga Alliance, the RYT-200 and RYT-500.
RYT-200 is awarded to those who completed a 200-hour teacher training course and it is also the minimum requirement for yoga teachers to formally start teaching yoga, whereas the RYT-500 is earned by those who completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training and it has a different set of requirements.
The 200-hour yoga teacher training teaches the basics and fundamentals of teaching yoga. Once completed, yoga teachers can proceed to a 300-hour teacher training program wherein they learn advanced levels of instruction, teaching style, and yoga techniques. To earn the 500-hour yoga teacher certification, yoga teachers can either combine their 200- and 300-hour training credentials or finish a 500-hour yoga teacher training. They must also complete 100 hours of teaching experience as an additional requirement.

What Kind Of Insurance Do You Need For Teaching Yoga

As a yoga teacher, it is most likely that you will work as a freelancer or an entrepreneur. The rules for insurance might be different in each country, and it is not an easy task to get an overview in the regulations. One thing that is very important to consider, is liability insurance. Some reasons to get an insurance for yoga teachers are:
- You will be working with a variety of people in your classes and some might be at risk of injuries.
- An insurance might also protect you for any damage done while working in studios, gyms or other locations.
- Liability insurances protect you for the financial risk of a lawsuit or other legal processes.
Some alliances for yoga teachers offer the possibility to join a collective liability insurance, which might be one reason to become a member. However, you can also choose to get your own liability insurance, independent of any yoga alliance .
Tips for getting your insurance:
- Instead of searching for a specific yoga teacher insurance, look for physical instructor liability insurance. Since yoga has been rising in popularity over the past few years, yoga teacher insurance fees have become inflated.
- If you are teaching at studios and gyms, you might be covered by their insurance. Ask the owner about their regulations.
- Also take a legal aid insurance, which covers the costs of legal procedures and often also offers the help of jurists and lawyers.

Yoga certification courses typically include history and philosophy, anatomy and physiology, exercise and relaxation, and teaching skills. But they may vary in other ways, including:
- Focus – The focus of the program will vary from course to course. Find one that best suits your style as a yoga instructor. For example, you may be looking for a focus on traditional yoga concepts, such as Ayurvedic principles.

Is It 100% Live Or A Mix Of Pre
You should ask yourself if you would like to have a 100% Live program where all the classes are being taught Live via Zoom or a similar program. Normally this type of Program runs for over 10 weeks at set times. You;must be very disciplined;and available for 10 weeks during this time.
Time zone is another issue. If its not in your time zone, you will have a lot of challenges.
Some Live trainings have 20-40 people attending at the same time. So ask yourself, can a teacher pay any attention to every individual? You will be paying over $1500, attending the training at fixed times for 10 weeks, and not getting any attention. The recording is of lower quality as Zoom only has 640×320 video quality recordings.
We have found that a mix of Pre-Recorded videos and Live sessions have more flexibility. Pre-recorded videos are HD quality and you can watch them as many times as you wish. Attend the Live sessions as per your time zone and schedule. There is an opportunity to ask questions in the community and on Facebook. Lastly, the biggest benefit is that you pay a fraction of the cost .

I used to think teaching kids yoga was as simple as leading them through fun animal poses.
I thought we’d do some fun poses, practice mindfulness, and then they’d automatically learn how to self regulate and deal with tough situations.
I was SO wrong.
When I first jumped into the world of teaching kids yoga, I was full of excitement and ideas. I thought my energy and knowledge of yoga would be enough to teach awesome and invigorating classes.
BUT I had no real experience in the classroom teaching a group of kids.
The kids had no idea who I was, they didnt trust me, they got bored quickly, distracted, or said yoga was dumb.
