The rise of athleisurehigh-performance, sports-oriented clothing worn, well, just about everywherehas arguably changed the way many people dress. Workout leggings in particular occupy an outsize space in the athleisure-verse. Vice President Kamala Harris famously wore them on Election Day 2020 many of us donned them daily for the better part of that year, thanks to the pandemic.
When we Googled the term workout leggings, we got about 160 million results. To narrow the enormous field, I surveyed my own wardrobe of leggings, noting the brands I wore the most. I read numerous best-of lists from the likes of The Strategist, Who What Wear, Good Housekeeping, Runners World, and Yoga Journal. I focused on versatile, quality pieces that could carry you through a sweaty workout, a low-key yoga session, an afternoon of errands, or a day spent working at your dining room table. I did not consider high-performance compression leggings meant for recovery.
A quick note on vocabulary: We refer to these garments as leggings throughout this piece. Others, however, including Susan Sokolowski, PhD, an associate professor and director of the sports product design MS program at University of Oregon , told us that those in the sports-apparel industry call them tights.

Beyond Yoga Leggings Review
Am I the only one that generally refuses to spend more than $40 on yoga pants? I tried high end yoga brand pants and have never felt the quality was worth the costuntil now.
I randomly came across a pair of Beyond Yoga leggings while shopping revolve during yet another sleepless night. Insomnia sucks!

Honestly, I planned to try them on to see what the hype was about, and then return them since they were $97. When I tried them on I couldnt believe how comfortable they were. I finally leggings that are worth $100!
Since then I have purchased four more pairs on sale as well as a pair of yoga shorts that are just as comfortable.

The Quality Is Amazing: Durability And Washing
Another amazing aspect of these leggings is that you can wash them with your normal laundry, including putting them in the dryer, without them turning into tissue paper, becoming uncomfortable, or losing their color. After numerous washes they are still just as thick, comfortable, and opaque as they were brand new. Unfortunately, Ive learned that many brands do not hold up this way.

Beyond Yoga Review: Space Dye High Waisted Ombre Leggings
I had a few pairs of gathered BY crops and leggings back in 2012-2014. I liked the style but I just never reached for them often. I eventually sold them and didnt buy more BY until now. If youre familiar with BYs history, they were known for their gathered hem leggings for years.
I first saw Beyond Yogas ombre leggings on the Anthropologie website in both a green and red color. The colors were released during the 2017 holiday season. My favorite color is green and I just had to have these. I bit the bullet and purchased the leggings through the BY site for $52 . I was stoked to have bought them at more than 50% off!

#1 Size: Beyond Yoga sizing runs TRUE TO SIZE. I am a size SMALL in BY and wear a size 6 in lululemon for size reference. BY also uses different fabrics which may make you think their sizing varies depending on style, but rest assured that all their pieces are TRUE TO SIZE. The size small fit me very well and looked very slimming. Check out their inclusive size chart below. Inclusive sizing means they cater to women sizes XXS to 3X!

Should I Buy Beyond Yoga
I HIGHLY recommend BY! Their space dye fabric is truly one of a kind and feels incredible on. I am most stoked about the Woodland Forest ombre and high-waist detail. I usually look very stubby in ombre prints, but Beyond Yoga was slimming and figure flattering. I love that BY is a woman owned company and is truly inclusive of all body shapes and sizes. This is a purpose that I can get behind and support!
I will be wearing my BY ombre leggings 24/7. My boyfriend has already said enough is enough after Ive been wearing them for 4 days straight. I may need to buy two pairs!

Headquartered in Los Angeles, Beyond Yoga clothing is made in California. The brand is setting out to make you feel comfortable in your own skin and live BEYOND. They offer extended sizes ranging from 1X-4X. I think considering them extended is a bit unnecessary, they should just be normal!
These leggings are definitely true to size. The size chart is very accurate. Its helpful to measure yourself with a tape measure to find your size if you arent quite sure. You can size up or down depending on how you like your pants to fit.

The Sports Edit size recommendation:
We find Beyond Yoga fits true to size, but if your body measurement is on the borderline between two sizes, order the smaller size for a closer fit. If your body measurements for bust and waist result in two different suggested sizes, order the size for your bust measurement. The only exception to this is the Dusted leggings, which customers generally find comes up smaller due to the metallic coating applied to the fabric. Why Is Fabric So Important
The basis of a pair of leggings is core-spun yarn, which Preeti Arya, assistant professor of textile development and marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology, describes as a fine filament of elastane yarn with fiber surrounding it.
No matter the brand, the basic yarn type is often roughly the same, as we found out from reading the tags of our contenders. Whether a pair feels thick and provides adequate coverage comes down to the density of the fabrics knit. Two pairs can have nearly identical fiber content, but if the knit on one is less dense, its opacity will be altered.
Fabrics that wick are meant to keep you dry during a workout. Unlike natural fibers such as cotton or linen, which are known to become waterlogged, synthetic fibers operate similarly to capillary action, with the space between the fibers acting like a capillary tube. So the minute … perspiration touches it, it gets sucked up, explained Arya. From there, it evaporates. Antimicrobial finishes, meant to sidestep stink, can be applied directly to a fabric by dipping it into a chemical bath containing an antimicrobial formulation.
Once a legging is produced, brands usually put it through standardized tests to evaluate how well it holds up to, say, the equivalent of 20 washes, the steadfastness of a dye , and its ability to withstand abrasion, pilling, tensile strength, and stretchability.
