When it comes to accreditation, things can get confusing.
There are many organizations that claim to be legitimate in issuing registration or accreditation for yoga school. Many of them attached Yoga Alliance in their name. For example, Yoga Alliance International Yoga Alliance International Australia The Canadian Yoga Alliance or even Naked Yoga Alliance Well, the list can keep going. The most well known is Yoga Alliance based in the US. It has been established since 1999 and can be found at yogaalliance.org. They provide curriculum standards, guidelines, training program validation, allow you to integrate the list of registered schools and teachers, and many more features. You have probably seen their most common level badge. First, RYS which stands for Registered Yoga School. Second, RYT which stands for Registered Yoga Teacher. Both are available in 200, 300, and 500 hours of YTT.
Be aware that accreditation is not enough to guarantee you a perfect YTT. In the opposite, some reputable schools dont even need to use any kind of third party organisation for their recognition!

Ask Which Course Structure Is Right For Me
There are 200-hour courses and 300-hour courses . When you take both from registered schools, then you are eligible to register as a 500-hour certified teacher. If schools advertise as a 500-hour training, it simply means youre getting the 200 and 300 rolled into one. Currently, unless you are working in a very competitive area , most studios will only require you to have a 200-hour certification to begin teaching at their studio. However, while the 200-hour certification is generally the minimum, most studios prefer to hire teachers who are passionate about their continuing education.
Some programs are intensives that last roughly a month. Some take place over six months on the weekends. Which one is better? It totally depends on you. If youve got a year-round, five-days-a-week job, chances are that a weekend course is going to fit into your life more easily . If you get summers off, then taking an intensive can be a wonderful immersion. Truly, both schedules have advantages and disadvantages, so its really personal choice.

Is The Yoga School Registered With Yoga Alliance Usa
First of all, legally, you dont need any yoga certification to teach yoga. Secondly, Yoga Alliance is not a Certification body but an online registry of yoga teachers. A Yoga School always issues the certificate.
However, Yoga Alliance has created minimum standards registered schools must follow. Each schools Yoga Teacher Program must be registered with and approved by Yoga Alliance.
Even though certification is not legally required, it may hinder you if you dont have certification in the yoga industry.
