Become A Prenatal Yoga Instructor

We Start January 12 2022

Bloom Yoga Studio’s 85-hour Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training

I started teaching prenatal yoga in 2001, but I didnt fall in love with it until I began asking myself this question:

What is the opportunity that pregnancy brings us?

For years, I had seen my students slow down, turn inward in a whole new way, and begin taking care of themselves on a deeper level.

And then I saw them transform: as they transitioned to being moms, I could see how they accessed their intuition, and stood strong in their beliefs.

I realized that this was the opportunity that we can all learn from: when we learn to truly mother ourselves, we can reconnect to our feminine wisdom and power.

And we dont have to be pregnant to learn how to nurture ourselves. I hope youll join me to learn the transformative practices and principles of co-creation for your students and clients, your loved ones, and for YOU.

Being Employed By A Studio As A Prenatal Yoga Teacher

Becoming a prenatal yoga teacher for a particular studio, in a salaried position, is a great way to build up your reputation and gain vital experience.

Though this may involve a wider variety of tasks, and you may not be able to specialise as much as you would like, the benefits of a salaried position in a studio include:

  • Stable income
  • Build your confidence
  • Learning practical skills that will be necessary for career progression

This will most likely be a holistic role where therell be room for you to specialise and shape classes once youve built up a reputation.

As you can see, theres certainly a comfortable amount to be made working in a salaried position!

Though youll be expected to fulfil a potentially broader range of holistic roles, theres room to expand existing classes and start to introduce your niche once youve built up a reputation.

This is great when youre just starting out but there are obviously limits on the amount you can earn, and how much time you can dedicate to becoming a prenatal yoga teacher specifically.

Getting Insured As A Prenatal Yoga Teacher

The next step is make sure you have the right yoga teacher insurance to protect you and your potential clients and class members.

If youre becoming a prenatal yoga instructor this is especially important as youll be working with a particular group of clients with specific needs and safety concerns.

The right insurance will cover you for a number of situations such as:

  • Damaged equipment
  • Injury claims from students
  • Misconduct claims from students

Although these issues are few and far between, you can never be 100% certain to avoid them and so need to ensure you protect yourself financially, just in case!

Even if you work for the best yoga studios in the country, you wont always be covered by their policy. In fact, one of the most common ways of working as a prenatal yoga teacher will be working freelance, across several studios, in which case youll need your own insurance.

The main kind of insurance youll want to invest in is public liability insurance. This policy will cover you for all third party claims including:

  • Damage or loss of equipment by clients or third parties
  • Claims of harassment from clients
  • Claims of professional negligence if people suggest your practices have been unsafe or theres supposedly been an oversight
  • Injury or illness to you and clients

Its not a legal requirement for you to have a public liability policy but by ensuring you have one youll be:

  • Protecting yourself financially
  • Protecting your reputation
  • Opening more doors for yourself

Our Passion Graduates Love This Intensive Heres What They Have To Say

My yoga practice has been physically deepened and spiritually enhanced. My relationship with myself has been uplifted and I am empowered, and my partnership has reached a deeper understanding and connection.

I am leaving here empowered and full of self love. I learned on a deeper level that what has happened to me doesnt necessarily define me. I learned it is beautiful to be vulnerable and to release, cry and allow myself to heal. I cant wait to teach my students the same thing.

has transformed me even more than I thought possible. You gave me the tools and the wisdom to look deeper inside myself and find the strength to overcome any obstacle. Thank you!

Such a safe space to heal and grow with such an awesome staff. What was created here is something Ive never experienced and will always treasure. Im in awe of how Passion Yoga School was put together.

Coming here I learned so much more than how to become a yoga teacher. I learned how to love myself, and how to love others. I learned compassion, and how to make myself feel the bliss that Ive had inside myself the entire time.

Yoga Is Not Just For The Experts

Number one, being a yoga teacher is not about being able to do all the fancy, complicated poses, like headstand, or forearm stand, or some of the arm balances.

What its actually about is cuing, which means effectively using your voice to tell people what to do with their bodies, and compassion.

So cuing and compassion.

So dont get down on yourself if you cant do all the super fancy things, because really good teachers are about great cuing and being extremely compassionate and loving with their students.

After all, yoga is a form of healing arts.

This doesnt always come naturally to everyone and thats okay. You can develop it with hands-on experience and will likely learn it in your teacher training education.

How Long Does It Take To Get Yoga Certified

This depends on the level of training that you get, including continuing education courses. It also depends on where you complete your training. A standard 200-hour immersion course will be about a month long, whereas your local yoga studio likely offers courses over weekends over the course of 6 months.
