How Did Alo Yoga Get Started

The Los Angeles-based Alo yoga company was founded in 2007 as a way to spread well through yoga. The founders had a passion for both yoga and clothing and, through that, created Alo Yoga.

Alo Yoga, through its dedication to bringing the yoga movement to more people around the world, has become a leader in activewear designs and fabrics that are franchised and uniquely diverse.

The founders who had a passion for yoga and a business sense for creating clothing that people love developed Alo out of that from the desire to want to bring both together. They wanted to create a brand that spoke to who they were as individuals and together.

The success of their mission is shown in the many places you can find the Alo Yoga brand today. They currently have more than ten stores nationwide and more plans in the future. The stores are touted to be more than a shopping experience, but an overall mind and body opportunity.

Many of their stores not only offer phenomenal yoga wear but also embody the philosophy of the Alo brand. This is why at a majority of their stores, they also have yoga studios, lounging areas, and a wellness bar where you can purchase nutritious drinks.

Alo Yoga Clothing: What Are The Best Sellers

Alo Yoga offers a variety of clothing styles for both men and women, from sweatpants and yoga pants to t-shirts and sweatshirts. They create and sell sports bras and tops for women and hoodies and various other jackets for both women and men.

After completing Alo Yogas Santa Monica and The Grove LA stores, Shawmut partnered with the brand to bring its first East Coast location to life. Housed in a 100-year-old building, the three-story outpost includes retail space, a yoga studio, and café, with exposed structural elements throughout to embody Alos signature natural look. The space features custom elements including accordion wood sliding partitions around the yoga studio and concrete elements and pental quartz countertop at the beverage bar.

Excerpt from Well+Good

Two years after opening its first brick-and-mortar flagship store in Beverly Hills, CA, Alo Yogaknown for its Instagrammable and handstand-able activewear is growing its East Coast presence with an IRL location in New York City. On June 8, the buzzy brand opens its Soho doors to New York yogis. Come for the chic, performance-driven pieces stay for mindful activations and community-driven classes and workshops.

At 15,000 square feet, Alos Soho location has nearly triple the square footage of its Santa Monica storeand the Alo team intentionally designed it to house high-vibe communal experiences. Even though it has our thumbprint, if you will, of the Los Angeles stores, were understanding that the way people live here is a little different than Los Angeles, explains Harris.

Yoga Clothes Named For Air Land And Ocean

Alo yoga apparel opens a Beverly Hills store

Alo made its debut in 2008 at the hands of high-school buddies Danny Harris and Marco DeGeorge, who have run a t-shirt production company together since the early ’90s.

Marco and I are two garmentos that were saying to ourselves, were making this clothing but its not really representing who we are, Harris tells me. Both of us practice yoga, both of us eat organic and live this alternative lifestyle. How can we have a brand that really speaks to us?

And with that, Alo was born as a womens yoga apparel line. With a name that reflects the elements of air, land, and ocean , the concept was really about protecting and respecting those elements, says Harris. Because in order to have a clean practice and a clean mind, you have to have a clean environment.

That green ethos starts with the brands Downtown LA HQ, which is decked out with energy-efficient lighting and windows, electric car charging stations in the parking lot, and an ultra-comprehensive recycling program that encompasses everything from fabric scraps and yarns to plastics and cardboards. .

In the beginning, the clothes themselves were made from organic cottons and bamboos, but the brand eventually decided to take a more performance-driven routejust in time for the social media revolution.
