How To Calculate The Length Of The Fabric You Need

The length of fabric should be the double of the ceiling height or structure where you are going to hang it, plus two metres. So if your ceiling is 5m high you will need 12 m of Aerial silks. To performance drops, you might need a minimum of 14 metres so you can hang it from 6 meters height.

This is our most popular aerial dance and aerial yoga fabric! The fabric is a 40 denier nylon tricot. It is a minimal to no stretch knit fabric lengthwise, which means it does not stretch when you climb it, or as you sit in it as a hammock. Fabric stretch can be subjective. Please watch our video here showing the various levels of stretch between all our fabric options here.

The fabric is approx. 103 to 108 inches wide. We certify the aerial fabric is strong, breaking at 2,000 pounds of force. Please note, if left in direct sunlight over time the turquoise and jade are particularly subject to fading. It is durable and easy to clean in the washing machine and can be dried in a dryer. If you are using it for aerial dance, you can make it more narrow if you have small hands. You do not need to seam the edge after cutting, the fabric will not run with a straight cut. Cut your fabric with a sharp pair of scissors.

What length of aerial silks do I need?

Take the height from the ground to your rigging point, and multiply by 2, then add 1-2 yards additional to allow for some extra fabric on the ground.

• 10-foot ceiling height = purchase 9 yards of fabric.
• 12-foot ceiling height = purchase 10 yards of fabric.
• 15-foot ceiling height = purchase 12 yards of fabric.
• 20-foot ceiling height = purchase 15 yards of fabric.
